9th October 2013 – We were honoured to pay a visit to one of our friend’s newly located shop at 11 Woodlands Close. With Soggiorno Fine furniture fronting the shop and Exsto Asia located on the mezzanine floor, this merger has made them bigger, stronger & more comprehensive, all under one-roof.

Exsto Asia was founded by Mr Nigel Lim and moulded into one of the leading ergonomics office solutions provider that provide products for office as well as home users. Their belief that ergonomics should provide not only the best human interface of comfort living space, but should be achieved with the combinations of the best “Works of arts”. Of course, Nita’s office furnitures since day one were all meticulously designed by them.

Riding on this successful ergo concepts that Mr Lim has built, he decided not to deviate too far off in his expansion. Pairing with his buddy Mr Allan Tham, they created Soggiorno Fine Furniture about 18 months ago. Soggiorno made ownership for fine furniture (furniture for living room, dining room, bedroom, and even comfy day beds) in your modern homes much affordable and reachable. So stylish and fine, some furniture are tagged at very much lower prices, for some even as much as one-quarter of what other competitors are selling. With current HDB flats getting tinier these days, they also allow customisations of bed frames with various hidden compartments to stow away unsightly “gems” that you may own. Talking about beds, they are also the sole dealer for DORLUX mattress from United Kingdom.

Exsto Asia & Soggiorno has a total crew of about 15 personnels and Mr Lim has hardly had any staff turnovers as he believes in covering their employees adequately with benefits such as work injury & hospitalisation insurance, as these are the important people building his business empire day to day.

Here are some pictures of their showroom, do pay them a visit if you need any furnitures for your home or your office.

The Egyptian President and government has declared a state of emergency across Egypt and imposed a curfew from 7pm to 6am (Egypt time) in 14 governorates for one month with effect from 14 August 2013. The 14 governorates are: Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Qalioubiya, Suez, Beheira, Fayyoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assuit, Sohag, Ismailia, North and South Sinai.

In view of the latest security situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reiterates our earlier advice for Singaporeans to defer non-essential travel to Egypt, in particular the governorates affected by the curfew.

Singaporeans who are currently in Egypt are reminded to abide by the curfew hours (7 pm to 6 am Egypt time) and stay indoors, be on high alert and to take the necessary precautions for their personal safety, including monitoring the news closely, observing instructions from local authorities and avoiding areas of public disturbances. As a precaution, Singaporeans should ensure that they have easy access to basic necessities in the event that shops and banks are closed for an extended period.

Our Embassy in Cairo continues to maintain regular contact with Singaporeans in Egypt who have e-registered with MFA. Singaporeans in Egypt, who have not already e-registered, should do so immediately athttp://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/. We are also working closely with the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) to render assistance to Singaporean students affected by the ongoing unrest.

Singaporeans who require consular assistance in Egypt may contact the Singapore Embassy in Cairo or the MFA Duty Officer (24-hours) at:
